23-24 Carmina Burana - Other - Page 5
MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR - NFSO
Greetings, Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and
Northwest Florida Ballet patrons and supporters!
We are so very excited and proud to co-present a monumental production highlighting Carl Orff’s 20th-century masterwork, Carmina
Burana, with the Northwest Florida Ballet.
Todd Craven
The NFSO’s 23/24 season has been one of unprecedented collaboration. We have not only shared the stage with world-class operatic
artists but also partnered with wonderful local community organizations such as the Emerald
Coast Autism Center and expanded our education concerts to Bay County in partnership with the
Bay Education Foundation. It has truly been an epic season..and an epic season deserves an epic
finale!
NFSO Music Director & Conductor
Carmina Burana was originally intended to be a true multimedia experience, to present not only
Carl Orff’s exhilarating composition but also to express the music simultaneously through the
spectacle of dance and visual art. It is the perfect collaborative musical work, and this weekend,
you will experience it with breathtaking dance choreography, a beautiful visual backdrop and
the superb vocal artistry of our world-class operatic soloists. As a warm-up to this masterwork,
you will witness the stunning choreography of Northwest Florida Ballet Artistic Director Todd Eric
Allen entitled Afterglow, set to the ethereal Vaughan Williams: Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas
Tallis.
Thank you again for attending tonight’s event and for your support of art and culture in our area!
This first-ever co-production with the Northwest Florida Ballet and their outstanding Artistic
Director, Todd Eric Allen, represents an important artistic partnership in our community. We thank
you so much for joining us and spreading the word about the cultural jewel that we have in our
local professional arts organizations and our beautiful Mattie Kelly Arts Center.
Yours in music,
Todd Craven
